Swiss democracy seems so much more real than other kinds of democracy. The big issues that affect people are still debated and voted on individually. Here are the results of the latest three issues to be voted on. These are big changes that do affect people across the nation and deserve to be carefully considered. So sometimes change does take many more years than elsewhere but arguably this gives time for everyone to prepare and come up with if not the best at least better ways to deal with new things. What do you think about this? I would like to live in a country where I could vote on an issue rather than for a person. For one thing it encouages you to find out something about the issue rather than just leaving it to someone else to do the homework because it's all too hard.
But from what I can see of the change that has happened on the trains and trams I travel on, the days of intelligent voting on issues are numbered. Only the older people are reading newspaper articles with indepth analysis. All the younger folk (and increasingly our generation) are plugged into doof doof doof to shut out the real world. Perhaps we need our politicians to improve their rapping and/or musical skills. Then they could rap or sing their analysis of the issues.
